Raghda
Raghda, twenty years of age, lives in the village of Beit Fajjar with her husband Akram, twenty four. Raghda came to Holy Family Hospital, in only her sixth month of pregnancy, with severe health complications and fearful of a miscarriage. Thanks to the expert medical staff both mother and baby were saved. However the couple’s first child was seriously premature and had to be immediately admitted to the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (only unit in the Bethlehem region). This new life was in dire jeopardy and required four months of skilled medical care in the unit. The young parents consulted with the social worker on how to meet the astronomical costs associated with their baby’s unexpected medical care. After reviewing their case file, it was agreed that the family would cover half the expenses and the other half would be covered by the poor case fund.
