Delegation Visit to the Holy Family Hospital

On April 21, 2006, a delegation comprised of Keith Kennedy, Chief of Staff of the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations, Paul Grove and Tom Hawkins, professional staff on the Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations & Related Programs, Dr. John Eisold, the attending physician of the U.S.
Congress, Jim Bever, Mission Director of the USAID/West Bank Gaza, Dr. Suzy Srouji, USAID/WBG Senior Health Advisor and additional staff from both the offices of the U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem and USAID /West Bank and Gaza.

In visiting the hospital, the Delegation was able to see firsthand how this “oasis of peace” positively impacts this troubled region. The visitors were able to imagine the powerful impact the $3.5 million from USAID/WBG will have to expand the hospital’s
services and in meeting the needs of the poorest and most defenseless in the Bethlehem region.
